How Books Inspire Children: A Children’s Author Panel Discussion

This session, which will be of particular interest to teachers, librarians, and parents, will explore how books inspire children. Inspire them, for example, to become an astronaut (Almost Underwear: How a Piece of Cloth Traveled from Kitty Hawk to the Moon and Mars by Jonathan Roth), an activist (Coretta’s Journey by Alice Faye Duncan), or a scientist (Rooting for Plants: The Unstoppable Charles S. Parker, Black Botanist and Collector by Janice Harrington). The authors of these three remarkable books will discuss how books inspire children and what to look for when choosing children’s literature.
